The Portuguese Peneda-Geres National Park was created in 1971 as a protected area and is classified by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve.
The Park situated in Terras de Bouro, in the north of Portugal, probably needs no introduction. It is one of the most beautiful natural parks in Portugal. The landscapes, the mountains and the lakes are breathtaking. There are granite villages there are reminiscent of old times.
The park also plays a very important role on the conservation of the protected flora and fauna species. It is a refuge to several wild animal such as the roe deer, the Iberian wolf or the royal eagle.
